Why does god delight in us

I have just forwarded this onto a coworker who had been doing a little research on this. And he in fact ordered me breakfast due to the fact that I discovered it for him… lol. So allow me to reword this…. Thank YOU for the meal!! But yeah, thanx for spending the time to discuss this topic here on your website. You are more than welcome! Food is great.

Caring for your coworker is better. Thank you! He sees us the way we should strive to be. Thanks for the encouragement. I needed that tonight. Thank you for the encouragement. That is the plan — let God use me in whatever way He sees fit to help others understand His Word.

God sings a song of joy over us. That makes us wonder why God would delight in us. Zephaniah says that He does, though. Let's Put It into Context. God, Where Are You? God will never leave us. What can man do to me? Victory Ensured. Since God is always with us and God is all-powerful, victory is secured.

God Really Delights in Us? Verses 10 to 15 give us the third part of this psalm. And then finally, verses 16 and 17 are a divine promise from God to this Messiah King. And so these will give you the four parts of this psalm. Our Lord and our God, even before we read it and speak it aloud, we sense that the greatness of this word will stagger our minds and eclipse our ability to express the glory of the truth which is contained within it.

A Maskil of the sons of Korah. A Song of Love. My heart overflows with a good theme; I address my verses to the King; my tongue is the pen of a ready writer. Thou art fairer than the sons of men; grace is poured upon Thy lips; therefore God had blessed Thee forever. And in Thy majesty ride on victoriously, for the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness; let Thy right hand teach Thee awesome things.

Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated wickedness; therefore God, Thy God, has anointed Thee with the oil of joy above Thy fellows. All thy garments are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia; out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made Thee glad. And the daughter of Tyre will come with a gift; the rich among the people will entreat your favor. She will be led to the King in embroidered work; the virgins, her companions who follow her, will be brought to Thee.

In place of your fathers will be your sons; you shall make them princes in all the earth. I will cause Thy name to be remembered in all generations; therefore the people will give Thee thanks forever and ever. Here in this great passage tonight, we see three things. First, verses 1 through 9: Here we see an address.

The Psalmist is addressing a word of praise to this Davidic king and this word of praise is ultimately Messianic in substance. And so, the praises of the Psalmist are ultimately an expression of delight in God.

True believers delight in God and here we have a divine expression of how the Christian delights in God. The Psalms beginning is sui generis. But from the very beginning, as he addresses these verses to the King and the context of a royal wedding, his delight is in the one who is the king and is fair among the sons of men. We immediately see the parallels with the Song of Solomon. And so, we have here in this psalm an expression of praise to the King, which is ultimately an expression of praise to the Messiah, which is ultimately of course an expression of praise to the Lord Jesus, who is Messiah.

And so we find here the basis of interpreting this Psalm in light of the truth of the beauty of Christ. And that, of course, has led interpreters to look at the Song of Songs and find the same themes. But importantly, this song is addressed to a king of the Davidic line. We are not loved by Him because we are good, deserve His love, or earn His love.

In fact, everything about us as sinners from birth warrants not His love, but His wrath. Yet, God delights in loving us. Rejoice in this amazing truth.

A third way God delights in us is by fighting our spiritual battles — He will tread our iniquities underfoot. Remember, the battles we fight are not ours — And that all this assembly may know that the LORD saves not with sword and spear. Who is our chief foe in the spiritual battles we fight? The devil, the accuser of our souls Revelation He accuses of past sins. Psalm God delights in those who reverence him and trust him and put their hope in his unfailing love.

God does not delight in strength v. What an encouragement to come into his presence in those times when I am overwhelmed by all those things that I cannot control.

Proverbs He takes delight in honesty and dealing fairly with others. Hmmm… what a novel thought in our world, where the end justifies the means in personal, national, and international affairs. My Father takes delight in my attempts to walk in obedience to him, just like I rejoiced in the first steps of my children before they fell down again.

Proverbs God hates lies but delights in those who tell the truth. People whose lives and dealings, as well as speech, are characterized by truth-telling. Are you being a little shady in that business deal? Are you telling the whole truth to the bank when they ask about how you are going to use that equity loan?

Do you have a financially addictive hobby that you are not telling your spouse about? At those times, just think how much your Father takes pleasure in you when you simply tell the truth and do the right thing! Jeremiah God delights in loving-kindness, justice, and righteousness. Rejoice when you see these things evidenced in this world and in your life because you know your Father is very pleased. Matthew ; ; Isa God delights in his Son, Jesus.
