However, I can recall one visit to the restaurant many years ago that stood out in a bad way. At the time, I was maybe eight years old. I'm 17 now. We were a large party, at least a dozen people, so we expected that the food would take quite a long time to arrive.
What we didn't anticipate was that the food would take almost two hours to get to our table. That's right, two hours. We ordered our suppers and our servers headed off.
We had more than one due to the size of our party. Our drinks came quickly enough, but then our servers disappeared for a very long time. We were in a spot way in the back of the restaurant reserved for large groups, and we hardly saw any waiters or waitresses go by. By now it had been about an hour since we ordered. My cousins, my brother and I were getting antsy, as we were very hungry.
Finally, a waiter went by and my grandmother flagged him down. She asked for one of our servers. He came by, and I can't remember what he said when my grandmother asked about our food, but he said something like "oops". They had forgotten our order.
Now, I know it's fairly common for a busy restaurant to maybe forget about a person's order, but when there's a party of more than ten people, one would think that the chefs would be busy preparing their food.
But not here. Not at The Pickle Barrel. So our waiter apologized I'm sure it lacked sincerity , and went back to the kitchen. By this point we were expecting our food to arrive soon, for surely the kitchen staff would work faster to prepare our meals to make up for the lost time.
Not a chance.
